This is the first weekend of our summer season and there’s lots going on. Our swimming pools are open. The BETHPAGER, our authentic 1969 48’ Chesapeake Deadrise starts her weekend series of 1½ hour narrated ‘rivah’ cruises. There is a big craft sale along with our bake sale, with its proceeds always going to our volunteer fire & rescue squad. DJ Dreux Elliot will be playing favorite tunes down at the beach.
May 29th-31st Wild West Weekend
“Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear…”. That was the start of every Lone Ranger’s radio & TV program. Now it’s your turn. Put on your ten-gallon hat, jump into to those cowboy boots as we travel back in time to the old west. Take our western hayride, but be careful. You might just run into a few bandits along the way.
June 5th-7th Magical Weekend
What’s the magic word? No, not that one! ABRACADABRA is the one we’re thinking of. Our magician’s Saturday night show is sure to amaze and astound you. Plus, there will be many fun activities to enjoy, including our Magical Treasure Hunt which is sure to confound you!
June 12th-14th Chocolate Lover’s Weekend

June 19th-21st Father’s Day Weekend
Dad, now it’s your turn. Time for your family to show how much they care about you, in fun ways, of course. Our blind-folded golf cart races against the clock, the freshwater fishing tournament and the Daddy Olympics are events that you’ll remember for a long time.
July 26th 28th Island Weekend
What island? Hawaiian, Caribbean, West Indies? “No Particular Island” as Jimmy Buffet would say. So put on your best flowery shirt, jump into your grass skirt (yes men, you too, if you’ve got one), slip into those flip-flops for some great laughs and fun. You could even be crowned Queen of the Island.
July 3rd-5th Independence Day Weekend
Plan to be here to celebrate the 4th, one of our most popular weekends of the year here at Bethpage. Our Independence Day Weekend Parade is the highlight of this national holiday. Decorate your golf cart, your bicycle, your roller blades or whatever else you can think will look good in the parade, and that’s it!! We can always recommend a cruise on the BETHPAGER to watch the fireworks display close up. It is a great finale to a wonderful weekend.
July 10th-12th Casino Weekend
Feeling lucky? Welcome to Casino Bethpage and find out just how lucky you really are. There’ll be poker, blackjack as well as the Bethpage Derby horse races. We’ll give you a bankroll of Bethpage Bucks to play with and at the end of the night, depending on your winnings, there will be some great prizes you can buy at our casino auction.
July 17th-19th Mardi Gras Weekend
A weekend in the New Orleans we like to remember is what this is all about. The parade…that one-of-a-kind, rhythm & blues music… those beads, all done in a way that’s fun for all the whole family.
July 24th-26th Reality Show Weekend
Wish you could be on American Idol? How about Survivor or maybe Fear Factor? Now your dream can become a reality. This weekend will be packed full of activities to test your skills through out the day. Saturday night, the finale of Bethpage Idol will be the best (or worst) talent show you have ever seen or participated in. So be ready to take part in what could be your one and only reality show appearance. And if you would rather not be a contestant, every show needs a good audience.
July 31st-August 2nd Hee Haw Weekend
Even though the New York Times called the last Bethpage Theater Guild production of this show “pathetic”a couple of years ago, it’s back by popular demand. “No charge for admission” was the part that most critics liked about our last Hee Haw!
August 7th-9th Elvis Weekend
The King will be in the building this weekend for more than just a night’s entertainment. All you Elvis impersonators, get those hips in good condition, wipe off those blue suede shoes and be ready for our Elvis impersonator contest, the winner to appear, on stage, with ‘the king’. And thank you, thank you very much.
August 14th-16th Steamed Crab Feast Weekend
Saturday night is a crab lover’s paradise. ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT steamed Chesapeake Blue Crabs are what most folks come for this weekend. Of course, we also cater to those who’d rather have a landlubber’s dinner. Whichever you choose, there is a choice of beverages for all. Musical entertainment, coupled with a late summer craft show and fun activities for all, is a nice way to spend the weekend and satisfy your “crabitite” here at Bethpage.
August 21st-23rd Kids Only Weekend
This is the kid’s version to our mom & dad weekends. They will have a special Kids Crafts With Traci workshop, a sandcastle building competition, a scavenger hunt and cap the evening off with the Saturday night Ice Cream Social.
August 28th-30th Chili Cook-Off Weekend
Remember to bring the crock pots and find that special family recipe. There will be wonderful cooking smells in the air as you prepare for Saturday night’s taste test to determine the Bethpage Chili Cook-Off Recipe of the year. Oh, and bring your appetite because there’s sure to be some good sampling going on.
September 4th-7th Labor Day Weekend
With many parents’ vacations coming to an end, and kids heading back to school, this is our unofficial ending of summer here at Bethpage. So while our swimming pools are still open and the water is still warm, come and jump in for one of the last swims of the season. Our Labor Day Weekend craft show and bake sale will be huge, as usual. Traci will be back with a big craft workshop for kids. And Saturday night come and relax at the beach or join in the limbo contest as DJ Dreux, once again, plays some great tunes.
September 18th-20th Bluegrass Lover’s Weekend
This is for you. Enjoy the “pickin’ & a-grinin’” to live bluegrass music along with a weekend of old fashioned fun, food & games for all ages.
September 25th-27th Wings & Wheels Weekend
Airplane and automobile fans, this is your weekend, and Hummel Field in nearby Topping is where it all takes place. Antique and classic planes and cars plus plenty of food and entertainment are for you to enjoy at the airfield.
October 2nd-4th Camper Appreciation Weekend
As the camping season winds down, we’d like to thank you for being with us this year with our free Hot Dog Roast on Saturday night. And as a reminder, join us once again the second weekend in April as we welcome you back for 2010 with another free Hot Dog Roast.
October 9th-11th Steamed Crab Feast Weekend
Our ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT steamed Chesapeake Bay Blue Crabs are what most folks come for this weekend. We also have a large landlubber’s spread that will be to your liking. Whichever you choose, there is a choice of beverages for all. A Fall Harvest craft show with musical entertainment and fun activities for all is a nice way to spend the weekend. So if you’ve got a hankering for steamed Blue Crabs, bring your taste buds
to Bethpage Camp-Resort.
October 23rd-25th Halloween Weekend I
October 31st-November 2nd Halloween Wkd II
Whether it’s our legendary Haunted Hayrides or our walking visit through the town of Axe Falls, Virginia, Halloween excitement is a great tradition here at Bethpage. On Halloween Night I & II, we will have our Halloween Party, with a costume party for all ages and tasty treats for the kids. There will be a Site Decorating Party, Pumpkin Carving Contest and Decorated Golf Cart Parade with prizes awarded. We will also have small child-friendly activities for the little ghosts and goblins.
November 6th-8th
52nd Annual Urbanna Oyster Festival Weekend
Originally called “Urbanna Days”, this weekend festival was begun to promote Urbanna and its economy. In the first few years, the event was a relatively small gathering of local folks, highlighted by a parade of mainly just antique cars. Now, over 90,000 people venture into our historic port town to partake in the food, fun and festivities. The firemen’s parade on Friday night is filled with emergency units from across Virginia. There is the Oyster Shucking Contest with the best in the world competing. The Oyster Festival Parade, the crowning of the Oyster Queen and Spat (spat is a baby oyster, here referring to young girl), exhibits, vendors, fun activities, and of course, the food all combine to make this a memorable weekend. Transportation from Bethpage into town and back is by hay wagons or onboard the BETHPAGER, our fully restored 48’ Chesapeake Deadrise. Because this is the busiest weekend of the year here at Bethpage Camp-Resort, we highly recommend that you make your camping reservations as early as you can for this year’s event.
November 15th Resort Closes For The Season
In contrast to last week’s excitement, this is a great way to close out your camping year as we get ready to put the resort to rest until April 1, 2010. We hope you have enjoyed your visits with us this season and look forward to being your camping host again for another year at Bethpage Camp-Resort, down “on the rivah.”
